Petali Teas Silver Tea Strainer
The handles are Japanese cherry blossoms, the logo for Petali Teas, our Mootz Run brand.
We have a company in London that manages the design and production of this handcrafted pieces. They are produced by a wonderful family owned company in Moradabad, Northern India. There are only 8 craftsmen in the factory. The factory itself is an ancient building formed of several workshops, each with one side open to a central courtyard. Moradabad is known as the City of Brass, and decorative and utilitarian items have been manufactured there for more than two hundred years. Most of the craftsmen in the industry are the sons and grandsons of craftsmen. While their skills are passed on from generation to generation, new techniques are constantly being learned and applied.
The particular skill of our workmen is in the finishing and silver plating of the infusers. The finishing involves a series of machine polishing processes and cleaning to bring the infusers up to the clean and flawless state required before they can be silver plated. The process of electroplating, though simple in principle, ihas many obstacles and needs knowledgeable and capable hands. We are proud of the beauty and quality of the products from this operation.
